Flashback Friday- Five-Year Camping Slump Broken!

We did it! We actually went camping this past weekend. After five years of plans and promises without results, we broke the slump and got it done: a camping weekend in Mills Canyon, NM.

All credit goes to the best husband and daddy in the world, Jack and his minion, Thomas. Together they planned the trip, including meals, sorted, repaired and cleaned the camping gear, bought groceries, and loaded Barbara and the trailer. Once there, they set up -and eventually broke down- camp, did all the cooking and kept us entertained the entire weekend. They are camping STARS and it was so nice to be responsible for nothing. I literally sat in my camp chair watching them work while soaking up the vitamin D. Thank you guys for an awesome trip. I’m already looking forward to next year!

  1. Love it! My husband and I do one backcountry camping trip per year and then multiple easy camping trips throughout the rest of the year. But we don’t have kids yet, so it’s easy for us to just up and go. Your kids are troopers! If we have kids, they BETTER enjoy camping! Haha! 🙂

  2. Fantastic! Looks like you all had a wonderful time. We camped every weekend when I was growing up. As a result our family is EXTREMELY close! You have a beautiful family.

    • Our kids (and Jack) get enough cabin experience while a summer camp, so for now tents are novel enough to entertain. Especially if we keep the trips to only one or two nights! I’ve never stayed at a b&b- are they as … individual as movies and books portray them?

  3. Hey! I just found your blog from the texas women bloggers website! SO glad I did 🙂 Meeting new blogging buddies is cool but it’s even MORE cool when you know they’re somewhat close by! lol. I’m over here in Amarillo, where are you?! I’m super excited to be following your blog now!

    • So nice to meet you Whitney! We’re in the southwest Panhandle, only three blocks from the stateline over near Clovis, NM. I was beginning to think I was the only blogger out here! 😊 Thanks so much for getting in contact and for following Average: More or Less. I’m looking forward to getting to know you better!
