A Conversation With Liz

Thursday evening after haircuts, Liz, Emma and I were returning home when the following conversation took place:

Liz: Mama, who in our family has the next birthday?

Me: Emma does. Then it’s Daddy and then Thomas.

Emma: begins chattering away excitedly about the who, what, when, where and why of her birthday, which is four months away.

Liz: Me and you have already had our birthdays, right?

Me: That’s right.

Emma: still chattering …

Liz: We should start over with Thomas and go backwards.

Me: And then you and me could have our birthdays again!

Emma: still chattering …

Liz: after a long glance at her sister, Or we could just go you, me, you, me …

  1. I certainly understand Liz wishing for more than one birthday per year, but K C are you sure you want that also?
