Book Review: Save the Date

The Book: Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones

The Blurb: When the funding for Lucy’s non-profit job is pulled, she is determined to find out why. Enter Alex Sinclair, former professional football star and heir to Sinclair Enterprises- the primary donor to Lucy’s non-profit organization. Both Lucy and Alex have something the other desperately wants. Alex has it all … except for the votes he needs to win his bid for Congress. Despite their mutual dislike, Alex makes Lucy a proposition: pose as his fiancée in return for the money she desperately needs. Bound to a man who isn’t quite what he seems, Lucy finds her heart- and her future- on the line.

The Babble: While I’ll admit the premise is a little shaky (we don’t get a lot of ex-football stars/heirs in my neck of the woods,) I have to say this is one of the most fun reads I’ve had in a long time. Both Lucy and Alex are likeable, unpredictable characters that you find yourself rooting for. I found myself rooting for them in the middle of the night because I could not put this book down. My mother-in-law (who is not a big reader) said the same. Although definitely a romance story, this book is not your typical fluff. I especially appreciated how the author gave Lucy and Alex a Christian belief system while still allowing them to be real and relatable, not stiff and tormented as I find so many in this genre to be. I will definitely be reading more of Jenny B. Jones.

The Behest: I received this book free from the publisher through the blogger review program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255
