John Cusack and Entertainment Advice

So last week when I Emma was on the radio, we (bffw, her co-host and I) had a discussion about the movie ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’. Highbrow stuff I know. Anyway, after admitting that I have indeed watched this shining example of inanity, Co-Host asked the obvious question: why?

Why? Well, the simple answer is John Cusack (the more complicated answer involves the 1980s and nostalgia and music memory … if you were in high school in the 80s you understand.)

When pressed, I cleverly expanded that answer by saying that John Cusack is cute, but given time to think I’ve come up with a more complete answer. I mean who couldn’t love the romantic Lloyd Dobler from ‘Say Anything’ or the conflicted Roy Dillon from ‘The Grifters’?

But I have to say that my favorite Cusack movie –actually one of my favorite movies period- is ‘Grosse Pointe Blank’. John Cusack, Minnie Driver, Joan Cusack, 80s music … it’s just hard to have more fun than you will while watching this movie. Go rent/buy/download it now. You’ll thank me.

I’m pretty sure “Well, he’s cute,” pretty much wraps up my witticisms from my time in the radio spotlight, but I’m also sure with a few advance topics I could be very entertaining. I mean really, it’s hard to keep a born sm*rt*ss reigned in for any length of time. Just ask my husband. Or John Cusack!

  1. I’ll watch nearly any movie with John Cusack and it is especially good to see Joan act with him. Absolutely loved “Must Love Dogs” but “Pushing Tin” might just be my favorite. I love the part of Must Love Dogs where he could have actually sold his handcrafted boat, but only if he would cut it in half to hang on a wall. So, of course, he refused to sell it!

  2. I also love seeing him go flying through the air, tossed about by the jet’s air currents. Guys will do some crazy things on a dare!
