Book Review: Wonders Never Cease

The Book: Wonders Never Cease, by Tim Downs

The Blurb: When a car accident leaves a famous movie star in a coma, nurse Kemp -a medical school dropout and get rich quick scheme-artist- develops a ‘guaranteed’ moneymaker. While juggling said star’s medication, a girlfriend with a particularly precocious daughter, a mixed bag of accomplices and surprises at every turn, Kemp pretends to be an angel dictating a “spiritual bestseller” he believes will make them all rich. But what will he do if real angels show up?

The Babble: Unfortunately we’ll never know. Though Mr. Downs began with a great concept and a natural platform for exploration, he just never seemed to let go and really delve into faith and spirituality. That’s not to say I didn’t like the book. Wonders Never Cease is a fun, well-written read with likable characters and an amusing plot. Was it challenging? No. Gripping? Slightly. Entertaining? Definitely. Wonders Never Cease will make a fun addition to our church library and has made me curious about Mr. Downs other works.

The Behest:  I requested and received this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher as part of their BookSneeze blogger review program. All thoughts posted here regarding this book are my own.
