10 on the Tenth- Products I Love

Jack and I have been pinching pennies so long, that even the few times we’ve not particularly had to, we pinch anyway. Part of our pinching strategy is shopping for the lowest price regardless of brand. That’s led to some interesting meals and we’ve definitely wasted money on products that were worthless at any price, but in the main it’s a practice that’s served us well. In celebration of payday and a massive grocery list, today I thought I’d list 10 products I buy no matter what the price. So, in no particular order, we insist on:

  1. Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cream Cleanser- not that I particularly need an anti-blackhead cleanser. Whatever! I’m nearly 40 for goodness sake! When does it end?!
  2. Biore NOURISH Moisture Lotion SPF 15- light, unscented and SPF 15
  3. Matrix Biolage Detangling Solution- pure magic! I cannot express the trauma and drama this product has removed from our lives.
  4. Resolve Spray n Wash Laundry Stain Remover- my middle child is a stain waiting to happen. Since we’ve found this stuff we actually have clothes to pass on to her little sister.
  5. Cottonelle Toilet Paper- not too thick, not too thin, just right.
  6. Greased Lightening Multi-Purpose Cleaner & Degreaser- one of the cheapest products on the market, but worth any price. We buy it at our local dollar store for, yep, you guessed it: $1.25.
  7. Kraft Velveeta- I’m proud to call myself a Velveeta snob. I’m not sure how that classifies me in the great American social strata, but there I am.
  8. Fuji variety apples- crisp, not too sweet, but not too tart. I guess I’m a middle of the road kinda girl.
  9. Hatch Brand green chile products- accept no other. Not only are these the freshest, most flavorful chilies you can buy, you’ll be supporting the local (okay, semi-local) economy. You can find them online at www.hatchmexicanfood.com
  10. Pendery’s Spaghetti Mix- my dad found Penderys deep in the heart of Fort Worth and we’ve been addicted to their spaghetti mix ever since. You can visit them online at www.penderys.com.

  1. Fuji apples? Yep. Hatch brand? Yep. Velveeta? Yep. (That Kroger Nice ‘n Cheesy is just plain nasty.)

I’m brand loyal on some stuff, but these days, I pinch my grocery/household pennies pretty tight.

  2. I love product recommendations!

I enjoy Honey Crisp and Jazz apples as well as Fuji’s.

Never tried Hatch or Pendery’s. I’ll have to look for it.

Do people actually try anything besides Velveeta? That’s just wrong.

Yes on Cottonelle. I heard from a plumber that Charmin is the worst paper to use. Apparently it clogs toilets. You’re welcome.
